This week I will discuss new sales software from the Houston startup Dovarri.
IT Venture Forum
I discovered Dovarri at the Rice
Alliance for Technology and Entreprebeurship's Second Annual
Information Technology Venture Forum that was co-hosted by the Houston Technology Center. It
was held October 29, 2004 at Rice University. Over 400 venture
capitalists, entrepreneurs and business professionals attended the
forum. If you are considering starting or expanding a business, I
highly recommend that you attend one of the Rice Alliance events.
Sales Force Automation
Sales are the life's blood of any business. Dovarri presented their
sales automation solution at the IT Forum. Dovarri's CEO is well-known
Houston entrepreneur Geary Broadnax who sold his very successful Insync
Internet Services, Inc. to Reliant Energy in 2000. Dovarri is a
web-based solution to sales automation or customer relationship
management (CRM) and is available as a hosted service for a fast, easy
deployment. From their presentation at the IT Forum, the Dovarri has
followed several of the key principles that I have discussed in past
articles:
- Dovarri is focused on saving time for the sales team.
- Dovarri makes your sales information always available by
supporting your PDA or PDA phone.
- Dovarri claims their "solutions are geared to adapt to client’s
current processes, not the other way around.”
Dovarri's software is designed from the perspective of the sales
professional and automates the common tasks of the sales process to
improve the productivity of the sales team. Many CRM implementations
failed because they bring little value to the sales force. At the
presentation Dovarri's slogan was "Dovarri knows sales; our competitors
know databases." Dovarri's support for mobile devices seems to be very
good as it was recognized by HP as "best of breed" in the HP Mobile
Solutions program.
Recommendation
If you are in the market for a CRM solution, I would include Dovarri in
your evaluation. You should compare it with salesforce.com that is the
leader in the web-based CRM software. Salesforce.com is a hosted
service that offers more functionality like document management.
Next week I will
discuss more new IT being developed by Houston ventures.
